Pegasus Technical Services, Inc., an\u00a0environmental firm in Cincinnati, Ohio,\u00a0has an immediate opening for a Bioinformatician.\u00a0This full-time position is funded through a U.S. EPA contract, and the work will be performed on-site at a U.S. EPA Facility in Cincinnati, OH.<\/p>\n

The successful candidate will provide bioinformatics services consisting of primarily processing\/analyzing\/handling high throughput sequencing (HTS) data, most of which is likely to come from the on-site Roche 454 Genome Sequencer FLX instrument, an on-site Illumina MiSeq instrument or an offsite HiSeq 2500. The work primarily involves characterizing microbial communities in humans, human animal models and environmental samples both in terms of taxonomy (using 16S, 18S, or other loci), and functionality (metagenomics, SNP analysis, RNA-seq), describing the genome sequence of microbiomes and human microbial pathogens (whole genome sequencing), and assessing the metatranscriptome of microbiomes in specific environments. In addition, other types of bioinformatic tasks and analyses may be performed, such as sequence annotation and assembly, gene expression analysis (from microarrays or NGS), comparative or functional genomics, and data mining of large biological data sets<\/p>\n
